GCS Recruitment Specialists has formed a new Banking & Financial Services division, led by industry veteran John Kennedy. This is in response to a growing demand for sector specialists, in particular to fill critical roles in the areas of risk, regulation and compliance.
GCS has a long history of recruiting technology staff for financial services clients. Over the last two years, however, it has faced an increasing number of requests for both permanent and contract placements needed as the recovery starts to take shape. This has now led to the creation of a specialist financial services team.
John Kennedy has joined GCS to head the Banking & Financial Services division. He comes to the company with a proven track record in banking and insurance recruitment and consultancy, particularly in the area of risk and regulation.
Kennedy commented: “The financial services industry is facing considerable upheaval and there is an increasing demand for people to work in areas which will restore confidence and introduce stability. But it is proving hard for organisations to find the qualified and experienced staff they need to implement the requirements of initiatives such as Solvency II. With our depth of knowledge, as well as our network of candidates and exacting vetting processes, we can source the talent needed to help banks and insurers meet their obligations.”
Chris Bartlett, Managing Director of GCS Recruitment Specialists, sees the launch as a logical step in the company’s evolution: “We’ve worked in financial services for many years, but the time is now right to set up a specialist division. I am delighted that John has joined us: he has fitted in very quickly and is building an experienced team who can meet the burgeoning recruitment demands of the banking and financial services marketplace. In particular, they understand precisely how critical it is to recruit appropriately in order to respond to the changing landscape of regulation.”
