The problems of recruitment website accessibility, solved….

Achieving web accessibility and equality is now more straight forward than you think thanks to new technology being rolled by DiversityJobs.co.uk.

“The recruitment industry was an early adopter of the internet and quick to see it as a means to engage with companies and candidates, the legacy of inaccessible websites means most recruitment businesses are actually breaking the law”. Says Morgan Lobb Managing Director of DiversityJobs.co.uk, “This is a big issue as fines for indirect discrimination are unlimited” Lobb continues.

Solving this problem has taken several years and hundreds of thousands of pounds, the result is a simple to install toolbar that actually makes websites speak over 40 languages and dialects, it enlarges text, changes background colours for those with dyslexia (which affects 1 in 10 people in the UK) and actually translates on screen text to multiple languages for people with hearing issues or for those with English as a second language. In fact up to 20% of the UK population require online reading support.

Used by the Police, NHS, Insurance companies and many large corporates “Speaks4itself” is now available to APSCO members for the first time at a reduced rate of £2k per annum.

“We were hugely impressed with the functionality of “Speaks4itself” the ease of its integration onto websites.” said Anne Swain APSCO Chairperson, the talking technology is now live on the APSCO website and requires minimal input form IT departments. “Speaks4itself” will help recruitment business comply with accessibility laws, become more inclusive, engage with a greater cross section of society and help indemnity potentially damaging cases of indirect discrimination.
