Johnston Press has today announced it is expanding its recruitment service The SmartList (www.thesmartlist.co.uk) with a number of new tools to further help businesses manage the recruitment process from start to finish.

A fixed price recruitment service designed to make it easier for employers to find their ideal employee, The SmartList has helped thousands of businesses since its launch in 2012. It leverages Johnston Press’ vast and comprehensive national resources (its titles reach 1 in 3 people in the UK every month) sifting through potential applicants to create a shortlist of the most suitable talent for each vacancy.

On top of this service, The SmartList is now launching a number of new solutions that can be used to aid every stage of the recruitment process, further helping businesses find the ideal candidate. These new tools will be categorised under two sections, Candidate Attraction and Applicant Management.

Candidate Attraction contains tools that for the first time will help clients advertise a role across a variety of platforms via The SmartList, including in print and on jobs boards. The site also includes a self-service section, where employers can instantly market vacancies across a wide selection of job boards and apply job specific screening criteria to applications.

Meanwhile, tools in the Applicant Management section provide support for the different stages of hiring a new employee, from creating the role through to the interview stages. This includes a comprehensive applicant tracking system (ATS) that clients can integrate into their own business workflows to track the stages of job applications as they go through The SmartList’s bespoke screening processes.

Clients can use the full range of services or simply select the products that most suit their needs, all at a price that bridges the gap between traditional advertisers and recruitment consultancies.

To accommodate both its growing products and clients, The SmartList’s website has been re-vamped with a new, sophisticated look designed to showcase the range of services on offer.

Stephen Anderson, General Manager, The SmartList, said: “Since its launch in 2012, The SmartList has had a phenomenal response from customers, achieving an impressive 93% recommendation rate. This demonstrates the value employers see in its unique blend of job advertising and recruitment consultancy, and the strength of the Johnston Press network that supports it. In expanding The SmartList, we’ve kept to this formula, and are pleased to be able to offer an even wider range of solutions to our clients with the same exceptional quality of service.”
