Farnborough Aerospace Consortium (“FAC”) www.fac.org.uk, one of the UK’s largest and most established regional aerospace and defence trade associations and Winchester Consulting Ltd www.wincon.co.uk, a leading UK career management, training and consultancy firm today announce the launch of http://cweb.fac.org.uk, a free online recruitment portal for the UK aerospace and defence industries.
The online portal is focused on enabling aerospace and defence businesses to access the people and skills essential to their prosperity and ensuring that individuals can fulfil their potential through the vacancies and training opportunities made available. Access to the website will be closely regulated and all recruitment companies will be subject to a stringent authorisation process.
This online recruitment portal has been set up to address the shortage of skills in areas vital to the aerospace and defence industries and is endorsed by primes working in the South East of the UK such as BAE Systems and Thales Group. The portal will provide a service whereby talent can be matched to opportunity, companies can log their vacancies and candidates can search for them. For FAC members, the site will be completely free to use, potentially saving thousands of pounds in HR overheads.
Farnborough Aerospace Consortium is a not-for-profit trade association that works to facilitate business between large global primes and the supply chain, offering advice and support to some 300 consortium members and partners. As a regional association, the FAC assists organisations from SMEs to global primes working in the aerospace and defence industry in the South East of England and furthering the long-term strategic growth of the industry in the UK. The new recruitment portal adds another valuable, cost saving service to those already offered by the consortium to its members at no extra cost.
John Copley, Chief Executive of FAC commented:
“The FAC web portal provides an innovative new mechanism through which to manage and support recruitment, redeployment and training of individuals and the retention of key skills. Our recruitment portal has a number of key benefits, including immediate and focused access to prospective employees and live vacancies and significant reduction in traditional recruitment and redeployment costs. The portal supports redeployment training and up-skilling of individuals facing or at risk of redundancy, thus facilitating retention and development of key skills within the aviation and defence sector and providing a dynamic profile of changing skills requirements and vacancy needs within these sectors and regions of the UK.”
Chris Jarman, Managing Director of Winchester Consulting added:
“The prime purpose of the online recruitment portal is to provide a framework through which it is possible to match talent to opportunity and so help retain vital skills within the aerospace and defence industries. Employers can identify prospective employees by job title, job group, qualifications, key skills and / or experience, minimising their recruitment costs. Candidates have direct access to vacancies and can register to view vacancies by job title, job group, location, salary and/or employer. They can also select to have their profiles published and promoted.”
