CareerClover Launches ‘The Culture Fit Tool’

Online Tool Helps Jobseekers to Find Compatible Employers

The Culture Fit Tool, just launched by CareerClover (a division of business psychologists OPP), addresses the needs of jobseekers searching for the perfect fit at work.

Culture Fit delivers a set of results unlike those from any other online career test.  It is unique in addressing company culture preferences, shedding light on personality, values and behaviours and giving practical, personalised advice for what to look for in a particular company.

Gabrielle Walker, psychologist at CareerClover, says: “Today’s jobseekers aren’t interested in getting a job; they want the right job.  They want to be fulfilled and happy.  When jobseekers can identify the companies they’re best suited to in terms of company culture and preferences, they will self-select, applying to those organisations which they feel are most likely to help them to flourish.

“Clearly providing candidates with this level of insight also benefits employers: they’re hiring people who share their values – employees who genuinely want to be there.  A number of highly regarded research studies (for example Kristof-Brown, 2005) conclude that positive outcomes as a result of ‘fit’ include:  increased happiness at work, greater commitment, positive effects on job motivation and productivity and enhanced loyalty towards the organization. One study even reports that 89 percent of people who leave a job within 18 months of being hired do so not because of a lack of suitable skills, but due to attitudinal reasons.”

The information gathered by the Culture Fit Tool is practical, aimed at helping the jobseeker identify which companies to approach and, ultimately, accept a position with.

The online Culture Fit questionnaire explores five widely recognised categories in organisational culture: Formal versus Informal, Conventional versus Innovative, Hierarchical versus Flat, Collaborative versus Competitive and Open versus Political.  The second section of the report looks at additional factors associated with company culture, including Recognition and Reward, Work-Life Balance, Development, Training and Progression and Community.

Culture Fit remains completely private:  a jobseeker’s data is never shared with potential employers.
