Bupa to train 900 ‘future focused specialists’ as part of industry leading apprenticeship scheme

Bupa has committed to training 900 ‘future focused specialists’ over the next three years through a series of bespoke apprenticeships.

The placements are part of a long running apprenticeship programme at Bupa, which saw more than 1,000 learners enrol last year across almost 30 programmes including caring, dental nursing and trainee nursing associate placements, alongside apprenticeships in IT, management and accountancy.

The announcement comes as part of National Apprenticeship Week, an annual celebration aiming to showcase the value of apprenticeships for individuals, communities and businesses alike.

The 900 new placements on offer to Bupa employees are separated into three apprenticeship academies, which aim to train 300 people per year:

  • Leadership: 100 leaders in customer centric care
  • AI & Change: 100 AI enabled continuous improvement practitioners
  • Data & tech: 100 Data and Technology champions

Each academy offers a variety of apprenticeships, ranging from ‘Aspiring Leader’ to ‘AI Productivity Champion’ to ‘Data Analyst’ and many more. A fourth academy focused on professional skills offers upskilling in everything from adult social care to procurement & supply.

Apprenticeships are designed to allow Bupa employees to expand their skillset and gain nationally recognised qualifications, enabling them to keep ahead of the curve in an ever evolving and highly competitive professional environment.

The apprenticeship programme is also being bolstered by Bupa’s new £6million Clinical Training Academy in Staines, with oral health apprenticeships taking place there this year.

Bupa is ranked 15th in the Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers in England by the Department for Education, also gaining the #1 spot among healthcare providers.

Apprenticeship Delivery Manager at Bupa UK, Andy Benson, said:

“We are delighted to offer Bupa employees these exciting apprenticeships, which will help them strengthen their skills and gain nationally recognised qualifications to support their career development.

“National Apprenticeship Week rightly highlights the value of employers offering apprenticeships where possible, not only for individuals, but for businesses and the wider community.

“A skilled workforce is better equipped to navigate an increasingly complex and fast-changing environment, while enabling employees to continue progressing, growing and exploring new career opportunities.”
