The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Developmentís (CIPD) Certificates in personnel practice, training practice and recruitment and selection have all been accredited by the Qualifications and Curriculum (QCA.
This is good news for the further education colleges around the UK which deliver these courses as they will receive national level funding because the CIPD certificates now sit within the National Qualifications Framework. This guarantees that a qualification meets a national quality standard and common criteria.
CIPD Director of Membership and Education, Judy Whittaker says: ìWe are delighted that our certificates have received this important accreditation. This status means that both the colleges and students can be confident that these courses are part of a transparent national framework which guarantees quality and standards.î
ìIt also important in the European context as the national qualifications framework is designed to clarify the relationships between qualifications, including broad equivalences and routes for progression across the EU.î
Kathy Froud, CIPD Chief Moderator added: ìQCA accreditation will further support us in ensuring the parity and consistency of our certificate programmes whenever and wherever they are delivered.
ìAs the CIPD certificate programmes frequently provide the first stage of a career in personnel and development, it is important that learners, providers and employers have confidence in their robustness and integrity.î
Chief Moderator Ed Poole said: î This acknowledgement comes at an important time. The CIPDís new quality management process assures quality and relevance to current practice and a high quality learning experience for all certificate students. QCAís endorsement adds further to these aims.î
The CIPD has recently updated its own professional standards designed to reflect the knowledge and competence required by todayís HR professional. To go hand in hand with this is a new quality management system which ensures consistency of standards between the different routes into CIPD membership.
The CIPDís qualifications are also overseen by a team of external moderators who ensure that all aspects of the assessment undertaken by candidates is consistent across all routes and in line with the instituteís standards.
Adds Whittaker: ìBoth our two Chief Moderators and our regional moderators worked with us to achieve the QCA accreditation, which is dependent upon a rigorous quality management process.î
