Cornish Doctor appointed as an Investors in People Ambassador

Dr Geoff Edwards, formally of the Wadebridge and Camel Estuary Practice in Cornwall, . Nominated for his commitment to people development, Geoff's Wadebridge based practice was the first in Devon and Cornwall to be recognised as an Investor in People.

Geoff has worked with the Investors in People Standard for the latter part of his professional GP life. He represents the South West Deanery on a national level and has also been implementing the Standard in his new role as a leader in GP Training and Education in Truro.

The Investors in People Ambassador Programme aims to promote Investors in People through personal experience and recommendation. To date over 30,000 organisations are formally recognised as meeting the Standard and are reporting results such as improved staff retention and increased profits. Currently, there are more than 80 Ambassadors enrolled, including influential business leaders such as Digby Jones of the CBI.

Geoff used Investors in People to align the GP practice's people management strategy with its overall plan for business success and sees it as a valuable tool for increasing quality. Investors in People has been important in his work and has helped implement and demonstrate quality in people management over all areas of his career.

Speaking about his recent recruitment, Geoff said, I am proud to become an Ambassador for Investors in People, giving me the opportunity to share with

others the benefits of adopting the Standard. Initially, I used Investors in People as a practical business tool for improving service and care to patients and staff within my practice. Seeing the benefits that it made, I am now looking forward to promoting the Standard on a regional and national level.
