Doncasterís ex-Deputy Mayor, Aidan Rave, has become the latest in a long line of high profile signings to join executive recruiters, Rockpools.
Aidan will be responsible for developing Rockpoolsí leadership intervention offer, a brand new concept in leadership development.
Aidan said: ìWe believe that to truly succeed, leaders can not work in isolation so we will be working simultaneously with individuals, top teams, members and partner organisations through coaching and mentoring programmes to enable everyone to grow together.
ìBy breaking down the knowledge divide between officers and members, the council and its partners, we believe there is a lasting impetus for successî.
Aidanís work will involve exploring a new range of products designed to get the most out of Local Area Agreements, bringing the council together with organisations like PCTís, Police Authorities and Regional Development Agencies.
Rockpoolsí Founder, Nev Wilkinson said: ìThis is an exciting new appointment for us. Aidanís vast experience as a front-line politician will give us new insights into what local authorities really need in order to be able to work even more effectively with their partners and their communities. I am once again proud that such high calibre people are excited about being part of our growing teamî.
Hamish Davidson, Chairman & Senior Partner said: ìIn the few days since we have started telling people that Aidan is joining, I have been struck by the warmth and universal regard in which he is held within and right across the local government community. I rather think we have been lucky enough to capture a real asset for our business and a future ëstarí who has a great future ahead of himî.
Aidan started his career in the community and voluntary sector, as a Development Manager for a successful community development trust in Doncaster.
In 2001 he became Deputy Leader of Doncaster MBC and in May 2002 he became Deputy Mayor after Doncaster became one of only eleven Local Authorities to opt for a directly elected mayor model of governance.
Aidan played a key role in the renaissance of Doncaster Council from its well publicised problems of the late 1990ís leading on the improvement programme, corporate strategy and shared services. He was also vice chair of the Local Government Association Labour Group, board member of the Improvement and Development Agency for local government (IDeA) and a member of the South Yorkshire Police Authority.
