With larger gatherings available and no covid passports needed for travel, Jon H of Events Rhino has highlighted his excitement for the events industry and its impact to local employment.
Summertime is better for covid
Jon H, founded Event Rhino in 2017 with a speciality in photo booths, including vintage, digital and advanced ones with 360 views - perfect for weddings, corporate events and also general parties.
“With covid’s first lockdown reaching its 2nd anniversary, we have noticed that the demand for events has surged during the summer, with covid cases usually a lot lower and there is an opportunity to have parties outdoors.”
“Being outdoors allows people to be socially distant and not feel confined in small spaces and this certainly allows for more events to take place and bigger guest lists.”
“Plus, we expect more tourists coming in from abroad, which is great for corporate events or adding to the size of wedding parties - this benefits photo booths like ours, but also caterers, bands, retailers and more.”
A shift to corporate events
“Weddings were always a big focus,” explains Haines, “But we are seeing more and more corporate events coming together, whether it is fairs who want to showcase their products or corporates who want to entertain their staff and colleagues, whilst they were unable to over the last two months.”
“There is definitely a feeling of people wanting to do more than before and having more eased covid laws is very helpful for the events and hospitality industry that has been hit hard in the last two years.”
Employment in events expected to increase
“With an increase in more and larger events, it is hugely beneficial for local recruitment and employment. Personally, our team can double from 5 to 10 people during busy times, not to mention all the other jobs needed for events, from waiters, bar staff, security, production teams and more.”
“With a good summer and hopefully no covid, we could see thousands of jobs added to the local economy - and wouldn’t that be a positive covid outcome for a change?”
