Here, we're sharing some of the best tips and strategies you can use to boost your gold gains in WoW Classic. Instead of the usual popular farming spots, there'll be a bunch of proven methods that can add extra profit to your gold-making routine and help you build up your stash much faster.

Class Choice
When it comes to gold-making, certain WoW classes perform better than others and directly affect how much money you can earn.
Mages, for example, are considered one of the best gold-makers thanks to their incredible AoE abilities. Their toolkit makes them very fast and efficient and also allows them to boost other players in dungeons in exchange for gold. On top of that, Mages also benefit from free food, water, and portals that they can sell for a profit.
Druids are extremely fast and mobile with their instant travel options. Plus, they are amazing for gathering professions, able to mine and herb while shapeshifted.
Some classes, like Warlocks and Paladins, get free level 40 mounts, which helps you save a solid chunk of gold. What's more, Warlocks can also sell their summoning services for some nice extra income.
Changing Layers
Even if you have an efficient gold-making class, you can still find yourself in farming spots with too much competition where it's almost impossible to earn decent gold. In such cases, switching layers can save the day.
Layers are sort of parallel versions of the same world that exist to reduce server load and overcrowding. By jumping to a different layer, you can instantly land in a copy of the zone where no one is competing with you, and all the mobs and loot are yours alone.
There are a couple of ways to change layers. You can ask someone in your guild to pull you onto their layer, but an easier and more solo-friendly method would be to just use addons.
First, you'll need Nova World Buffs to show you which layer you're currently on. After that, you have two main options:

WeakAura: Install WeakAuras, then download the aura called Tres Layer Swap. It'll help you jump to another layer instantly in just a couple of clicks.

Special Layer Swapping Addons: Standalone addons like Layer Hopper or AutoLayer do the same thing as the WeakAura but work as separate tools.
Keep in mind, though, that every time you change layers, there's a cooldown that increases with each hop. This is Blizzard's way of preventing people from abusing the system to farm endlessly without limits. But as long as you're willing to wait out the timer between swaps, you can still take advantage of layer hopping and massively boost your gold per hour.
Killing Rare Creatures
Rare mobs are a fantastic way to raise your gold income. They almost always drop at least one green item, and often you can snag something even more valuable.
Finding those Rares can be tricky unless you have the RareScanner addon. RareScanner scans your surroundings in real time and shows an on-screen alert whenever a rare creature spawns nearby. You can just play the game as you normally would, and the addon will notify you of any rare spawn in the vicinity, giving you plenty of time to jog over, kill the beast, and get the juicy loot to sell for a nice profit.
Buying Gold
If you want to take a break from the grind or need a specific amount of gold all at once—maybe for a big purchase or to kickstart your item flipping business—you can always just buy WoW Classic gold from other players or at a boosting platform. It's by far the fastest and easiest way to get gold, and it's actually very safe if you pick a reliable seller.
Vendor Recipe Flips
This method can earn you an absolutely ridiculous amount of gold, though it does require good timing and a bit of luck.
Certain NPC vendors sell recipes and patterns that are extremely limited in stock. Only one copy is available at a time, and once someone buys it, everyone else has to wait for it to respawn. If you manage to snag one of these recipes, you can flip it on the Auction House for a massive profit.
For example, you can hunt for patterns for Runecloth Gloves, Runecloth Bag, Expert Cookbook, or Mageweave Bandage. These items always sell like hotcakes because people would rather pay extra than waste time camping a vendor and waiting for a restock. You're basically saving them tons of trouble—and getting paid handsomely for it. Of course, you'll need to put in a little effort to be the first to grab the recipe, but if you succeed, feel free to mark it up several times over on the AH and watch the gold roll in.
Profession Cooldowns
Some crafts in Classic WoW have long cooldowns of up to several days before you can craft the same item again. But if you have multiple alts, you can effectively "chain" these cooldowns across characters. While one cooldown has just started, another alt's cooldown is already over, so you can keep crafting daily rather than wait for the timer to reset on a single character. It's not exactly "breaking the system," but it still gives you a huge advantage and allows you to produce more goods for sale.
Some great examples of cooldown crafts are Refined Deeprock Salt, Arcanite Bar, and Mooncloth, which all sell for a decent profit. You can also sell your cooldowns as a service to other players for a fee.
Opening Lockboxes
Lockboxes are a special kind of loot containers you can find in-game. They drop locked, and a lot of players just vendor them because it's easier than finding ways to actually open them. And that's a big mistake.
Never vendor a lockbox without checking what's inside. Lockboxes can contain valuable green items, rare or even epic pieces and recipes worth far more than what you'd get from a vendor.
To open a lockbox, you'll need either a Rogue (who can use Pick Lock) or a Skeleton Key crafted by a Blacksmith. Some Rogues will charge a small fee for unlocking, while others may even do it for free. If you play one of these classes yourself, that's even better. Just craft a key or Pick Lock, open the box, and enjoy your loot!
