Some of the country''s largest employers, including Marks and Spencer, McDonalds, T-Mobile and the Teacher Training Agency will be putting themselves under the spotlight at September''s totaljobs live in order to try and attract the next generation of managers. Totaljobs live is organised and hosted by totaljobs.com.
As the battle to recruit the best graduates begins, recruitment fairs are one method that they can utilise to market themselves to potential employees. Even though job opportunities are decreasing, companies are still willing to pay more for the right candidate. New research from the Association of Graduate Recruiters shows that the war for talent is keeping starting salaries on an upward spiral. Indeed, starting salaries have risen 4.6 percent from last year, to reach a high of 19,600.
Totaljobs live, which will be held at the Business Design Centre on 3rd and 4th September, allows recruiters to pre-select jobseekers they want to interview prior to the event. Exhibitors have access to totaljobs.com''s candidate database before the fair, from which they can hand pick the cream of the crop to interview before or during the event. So far over 5,000 jobseekers have signed up for the show.
The fair focuses on eight key industry sectors: public sector, healthcare, business services, retail, aerospace and engineering, catering and hospitality, construction and IT. Other companies currently signed up to exhibit include Asda, Argos, Capital One, NHS Careers, City of London Police, McDonalds, Unisys and Thomas Pink.
Keith Robinson, operations director at totaljobs.com said: Even in the current market conditions, evidence of a skills crisis across many industry sectors still exists. Together with increasing competition, this means it is more important than ever for recruiters to make the most of their attendance at recruitment fairs. With this event we are breaking the barriers of the ordinary job fair to bring them a value-added experience, that will ensure they meet and recruit the best candidates available in the most cost effective way.
