Monster Employment Index Europe Jumps Ten Points

Monster Employment Index Europe Jumps Ten Points, Continuing Positive Growth Trend For Online Hiring Across Europe

- Hospitality and Tourism Sector Shows Greatest Growth As Summer Hiring Continues

- Online Job Offers in Germany Continue to Grow on Higher Demand in Heavy Industries

The Monster Employment Index Europe jumped 10 points to 143 in April, rising for a fourth straight month, fuelled by higher demand for workers in Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden and the UK. Year-on-year, the Index is up 27 points, or 23%. The Monster Employment Index is based on a real-time review of millions of employer job opportunities culled from Web sites across Europe, including Monster?.

The substantial growth across online hiring in Europe in May was largely driven by strong growth in worker-demand across Germany - Europe's largest economy - where heavy industries such as production, manufacturing, maintenance and repair saw more online job opportunities. The UK also saw a significant rate of increase, where the hospitality sector performed strongly.

The hospitality and tourism sector showed the fasted rate of growth in the EU as a result of increased demand for blue-collar workers in all countries tracked by the Index except Sweden. Demand for production, manufacturing, maintenance and repair workers also saw a strong rise.

Blue-collar occupational categories including service, shop and market sales workers saw the strongest increases in May, while white-collar workers including professionals saw smaller increases.
