- Hospitality and Tourism Job Offers on the Rise
- Surge in Demand for Service-workers Reported in London and the South-East
- South-West and Wales See Greatest Regional Rise in Online Job Opportunities
Online recruitment activity across the UK jumped in May according to the Monster Employment Index UK. Demand for workers rose 21 points in reaching a new peak of 162 points. Following gains in online opportunities for staff over the last four months, the Index is now showing year-on-year growth of 54 points, or 50 percent. The Index is based on a real-time review of millions of employer job opportunities culled from Web sites across Europe, including Monster?.
The hospitality and tourism and sales sectors registered the highest increases in UK online job demand throughout May. The boom in worker-demand in hospitality and tourism was primarily fuelled by demand in Wales. Environment, architecture and urbanism was the only sector that saw fewer job opportunities last month.
Following a decline in April, white-collar roles saw an upsurge in online recruitment, with legislators, senior officials and managers; and professionals seeing particularly high levels of online job opportunities.
The South West saw continued high demand following a similar trend in April. After a slight dip in April, workers in Wales saw more opportunities in May.
