Recruitment companies team up and raise £10,000 worth of toys for the Christmas toy appeal

MRL Consulting Group, established in Brighton in 1997, and a host of local recruitment businesses have come together to raise over £10,000 worth of toys for the 2020 Salvation Army Christmas Toy Appeal.

This is to ensure that underprivileged children in Sussex have something to look forward to on Christmas morning.

With 2020 being a tough year for many people up and down the country, the team wanted to reach out to their local competitors and see if what could be achieved collectively.

Last year, MRL had managed to source over £3,000 of toys for social workers to distribute to children in Sussex that would usually not receive Christmas gifts. The target was to triple the number of brand new toys raised this year.

The recruitment sector is notoriously competitive, but many of the major names in the sector have collaborated to make Christmas as good as it could be this year.  MRL teamed up with Barrington James, Expand Executive Search, Bullhorn, Crucial Recruitment, Graduate Recruitment Bureau, Quotacom, Thryve, ESC, RealTime, ICG Medical and industry bodies RDLC, TRN, J9 Train and Elite Leaders to gather an incredible amount of toys together.

‘It’s an unbelievable achievement to raise this much money in such a short space of time’ said Kelly Robertson, Group Operations Director at MRL Consulting Group.  “I’m completely overwhelmed by the generosity of everyone who either donated money or toys.  We seldom speak to our competitors, so it was lovely to be able to collectively make this happen”.

Due to the pandemic toys had to be provided in packaging that could be sterilised and also quarantined for 14 days, further adding to the logistical challenge of getting this all together in time for Christmas delivery.
