Representatives from recruitment specialists Resourcing Solutions successfully completed the Bank of America Chicago marathon earlier this month, raising more than 2,900 for local charity Daisyís Dream.
The charity supports bereaved children and their families throughout Berkshire and the surrounding areas, offering advice to families, professionals and anyone concerned about a grieving child.
Resourcing Solutions were represented by Richard Lawrance, Managing Director, and Andy Ridout, Rail Director. The Chicago marathon was Andyís second and Richardís seventh overall which was also his last of the five major world marathons, which include London, Berlin, Boston and New York City.
ìDaisyís Dream has been our nominated charity for a year, chosen, not just because itís a local charity but because we feel it is one which we can make a significant impact on,î says Richard.
ìWeíve had a range of activities to date from quiz nights to selling Christmas cards and taking part in the Flora London marathon in April and now the Chicago marathon weíve raised even more money.
Richard has developed a taste for running marathons and has been involved in seven so far.
ìI started running to keep fit and then decided to run marathons so Iíd have something to work towards. With the Chicago marathon under my belt Iíve now run all five major world marathons. Seeing all the donations and pledges for support really makes it all worthwhile.
ìI would like to thank all those who sponsored me - together we raised vital funds for an important charity,î added Richard.
For the record Richard ran the marathon in three hours, 29 minutes and 15 seconds, achieving a position of 2,015 out of a total of 33,000 runners. Andy came a commendable 4058 and finished the race in three hours, 46 minutes and 41 seconds.
