Octoberís Bank of Scotland Labour Market Report showed that the emerging slowdown in the Scottish jobs market continued in October, with employment, demand for staff and average pay all rising at weaker rates than the previous month. However, the labour market remains tight with candidate availability falling in October.

The report's labour market barometer slipped to from 60.4 in September to 58.9 in October, its lowest level for twenty-one months. The index was marginally below the equivalent barometer for the wider UK economy.

Engineering & Construction remained the most in-demand category of staff for both permanent and temporary/contract employees.
