After 30 years of loyal service, Stat Can has decided to no longer publish and update its Help-wanted Index, which had become less relevant with the arrival of online job postings.
In the April 1 issue of The Daily, Statistics Canada stated that ìmany users have expressed concern over the performance of the help-wanted index in recent years, especially in light of the growing use of the Internet by employers as a means of posting job openings.î
According to Gilles Groleau, who is in charge of this index, no replacement index is being considered.
With the publication of the last Help-wanted Index on May 6, 2003, the Jobboom Index will reign supreme in Qubec.
