Randstad's commitment to the UN Global Goals: driving community impact through equity and sustainability

The research showed that two in five (38%) workers would avoid an employer whose values on social and environmental issues do not match their own, and nearly a third (31%) would reject a job offer if a business was not working towards greater sustainability.

Randstad’s Workmonitor 2024 report, which surveyed 27,000 workers in 34 markets across Europe, Asia Pacific and the Americas, found that the vast majority of talent (66%) consider an employer’s value and purpose as important to them.

The research showed that two in five (38%) workers would avoid an employer whose values on social and environmental issues do not match their own, and nearly a third (31%) would reject a job offer if a business was not working towards greater sustainability.

In line with these findings, Randstad has today reiterated its commitment to a better, more sustainable future for talent and clients. Its 2024 Sustainability Report provides an update on the business’ ambition to make a tangible impact and build a more equitable society. This ambition is underpinned by three pillars: promoting a fair labor market, fostering equity at work and supporting the green transition.

As part of its ‘fostering equity at work’ pillar, Randstad has taken steps to improve employability, skills and opportunities for people with disabilities, placing 12,200 people in employment in 2023. In Australia, the company partnered with specialist disability consulting company, Get Skilled Access, to develop ‘Recruitable’ , a program designed to remove barriers within mainstream recruitment and enhance accessibility for people with disabilities.

In 2023, Randstad committed to supporting 50,000 refugees over the next three years by connecting them to jobs and training. This training includes language skills, interview preparation and upskilling in logistics and technology. To date, 35,000 refugees have already benefited from these initiatives.

Over the past year, Randstad has also encouraged its employees to take on charitable and philanthropic work, to support vulnerable communities globally. In 2023, over 5,000 Randstad employees volunteered nearly 29,000 hours within their communities.

Aligned with its support of the green transition, Randstad continues to make progress toward its emission reduction goals, targeting a reduction of more than 57% across scope 1 & 2 and by over 30% in scope 3 by 2030 (2019 base year). The business has also built a worldwide net-zero ambassador network, with 159 active Ambassadors from 20 countries.

Myriam Beatove Moreale, Chief Human Resources Officer of Randstad, commented: "As the world’s leading talent company, Randstad is committed to driving sustainable change in the labour market by fostering equity at work, promoting fair labor practices, and supporting the green transition. The Randstad Sustainability Report showcases the programs and partnerships that help businesses and communities thrive while ensuring that people have the support and skills needed to navigate the changing world of work.

I am very proud that every year we provide 600,000 people with fair and quality work opportunities everyday, and are making an impact across the world of work."
