  • Realise HR pioneers new ED&I initiative nationwide, following successful roll out with Morgan Sindall
  • Aimed at embedding equality, inclusivity and diversity (ED&I), Realise HR is expanding its successful initiative across UK industries, and plans to roll out this pioneering program to additional clients in various sectors.

Award-winning northern HR consultancy, Realise HR, the creators of this initiative, are rolling out a pioneering approach to embed ED&I in the workplace, starting with their first client, Morgan Sindall.

Following the success of the program within Morgan Sindall’s Nuclear Business Unit, Realise HR is now expanding the initiative across all of Morgan Sindall’s UK business units.

Launched at a powerful leadership event attended by over 70 senior leaders, the initiative was launched with Morgan Sindall’s new inclusive behavioural guide rails known as PLACE (People, Language, Authenticity, Courage, and Environment). This initiative and set of behaviours are set to transform the company's approach to creating stronger inclusive and diverse workplaces.

The kick off initiative designed and led by Realise HR, focuses on engaging senior leaders in meaningful, face-to-face conversations with individuals from a broad spectrum of background, covering gender, race, sexuality, disability, and more.

The launch event, held earlier this year, featured interactive workshops designed to break down biases, build empathy, and empower leaders to create a stronger inclusive culture.

Participants heard firsthand from a diverse range of speakers, including a cancer survivor, a trans woman in the nuclear industry, individuals diagnosed with autism and ADHD, and those from rich multicultural backgrounds. This intimate format created impactful, real-time discussions that go beyond traditional diversity training.

Kim Iverson, Head of People at Morgan Sindall said "We worked with Realise HR to create real, lasting change through authentic conversations and leadership. Seeing the transformation at Morgan Sindall has reinforced our belief that this initiative can drive inclusive cultures across the UK. The programme had a profound impact on our leaders and we are now fully committed to making diversity and inclusion a part of our DNA.”

Claire McLean, Founder and CEO at Realise HR said, “We co-designed the learning solution and PLACE framework to challenge misconceptions and inspire authentic conversations. The power of the programme comes from hearing real stories directly from people from a diverse range of backgrounds.

Seeing the impact that the programme had on Morgan Sindall’s leadership team was both rewarding and transformative and we are looking forward to expanding the initiative to other forward-thinking organisations, creating more inclusive and resilient workplaces across the UK.”

Morgan Sindall has committed to expanding the initiative across all its UK infrastructure business units. The company aims to make inclusivity a core value at every level of the organisation. Leaders and employees will be tasked with embedding the PLACE ethos into daily practices, ensuring that everyone, regardless of background or identity, feels valued and heard in the workplace.

The nationwide rollout will include further leadership workshops, team discussions, and pledges from senior leaders, with the goal of creating a workplace culture where diverse perspectives are celebrated as well as learning and roadshows for all employees.

Eldon Garnett, Managing Director of Morgan Sindall said "This is a critical moment for our business. Thanks to Realise HR and their forward-thinking approach, PLACE is more than just an initiative, it's a commitment to doing what's right for our people. We need to ensure inclusivity becomes a fundamental part of our workplace culture across the UK."

Kim Iverson, Head of People for Morgan Sindall added, “The programme is thought-provoking, informative, and inspiring. Having people in the room revealing their real-life stories has so much more impact than say, a video or a presentation. The intimacy of the workshops made the experience even more powerful. PLACE ensures diversity and inclusion are part of our DNA.”

A recent internal employee engagement review found that teams with diverse leadership showed significantly higher engagement, problem-solving abilities, and job satisfaction. The findings were instrumental in Morgan Sindall’s decision to expand PLACE company-wide, underscoring the positive correlation between inclusivity and business performance.

Realise HR, the driving force behind PLACE, has been instrumental in helping Morgan Sindall achieve this vision. With PLACE’s success, Realise HR is set to extend this program to other clients, and empower more organisations to build inclusive environments and improve overall business performance.

The expansion of the PLACE initiative positions both Realise HR and Morgan Sindall as leaders in driving ED&I. By valuing a workplace that embraces different perspectives, Morgan Sindall is not only creating a more inclusive environment but also addressing industry-wide challenges.
