The results of a governmental review into employment agency regulation are likely to make Internet related violations a criminal offence.
According to a spokesman from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), there are a number of issues of concern to the review. Recent discussion of advertising fictitious jobs and disseminating CVs without consent are likely to be made serious offences. Currently the regulations cover only traditional agencies. With the growth in e-commerce, online
companies are going to be scrutinised said the DTI spokesman.
