IDCís Storage Connections 2004 - London, June 23

.

There is one area where pressure on resources increases every day - storage. How long will existing storage solutions cope? Storage is no longer just an issue of business continuity; legal obligations and expectations from insurance companies also drive the need to store information effectively. With this in mind, IDC is pleased to announce its Storage Connections 2004 conference, which is taking place at the Langham Hotel in London on June 23, 2004.

Storage is still important to European enterprises, said IDC program director Claus Egge, who will be speaking at the event. Medium and small businesses are increasingly aware that they need to treat data like the big boys, and the big enterprises are beginning to articulate a desire to manage all information from PDA to mainframe. You can call it ímaturingí or a ícompletenessí in the approach to data, but whatever claims are made about issues such as information life-cycle management, the truth is that it will take much work and more investment to get there.

European Storage Connections 2004 covers a number of storage issues, but this year IDC will specifically address two key areas:

Legal compliance - an exploration of the impact legislation will haveon storage requirements.

Latest technological developments, including the impact of IP in storage - how will IP storage influence technology decisions, and an exploration of the benefits created by coexisting network structures.

Delegates will hear from leading storage-focused organizations and learn from end-user businesses giving case studies on their experience.

Sponsors/exhibitors already signed up are IBM, Creekpath, APC, Fujitsu Siemens, Snap Appliance, Commvault, and SGI, with a case study from North Yorkshire Police. The event is supported by media sponsorship from Techworld, Computer Business Review, and SNIA.

The conference will be free for the first 100 end users (subject to status verification). To register (including press registration), please contact Anne Joyce on 020 8987 7169, or visit http://emea.idc.com/uk/storage04, email ajoyce@idc.com.
