Wales HR Network brings AI, wellbeing and workplace rights into focus

Wales HR Network panellists and organisers at the Cardiff event on AI, wellbeing and workplace rights

Acorn by Synergie and Darwin Gray convened HR professionals in Cardiff to discuss responsible AI adoption and its implications for employee wellbeing and workplace culture.

HR professionals gathered at Cardiff’s Open University on 1 October for a Wales HR Network discussion on AI, wellbeing and workplace rights, hosted by Acorn by Synergie and Darwin Gray.

The event explored how employers can absorb new technology into working practices while maintaining accountability for its impact on employees. It was the network’s fourth panel event of 2026, delivered with Beam Training & Development and supported by Fintech Wales.

Responsible adoption, not just new tools

Chaired by Lianne Weaver of Beam Training & Development, the panel included Darwin Gray partner Owen John, Vantor Advisory founder Simon Drinkwater, Holidity founder and CEO Dr Julia Jones and VisVira founder Andrea Jones.

Discussion covered workforce planning, employee experience and the use of AI in internal and external communication. Panellists also considered workplace pressures and the difference between adopting a tool and embedding it effectively in an organisation.

The pace of change facing HR professionals means there is a real value in bringing people together to share knowledge and experience.

Danielle Haynes, Head of Marketing at Acorn by Synergie, said the network aimed to give HR professionals space to exchange experience and consider the practical consequences of change.

Why it matters

For recruitment and HR teams, the discussion is a reminder to assess how AI changes responsibilities, communication and employee experience alongside potential efficiency gains.

The Wales HR Network plans to return with further events in 2027. Professionals can join the network free of charge for updates.
