Totaljobs.com, one of the UK’s leading recruitment websites, launches its newest application for jobseekers, proximity matching. The first of its kind in the UK jobs market, the feature has been developed to help jobseekers search for employment by location.
The tool, which adds to the site’s existing sector and region search, will allow jobseekers to view results according to distance from their preferred location. For recruiters, this could mean that by providing a postcode in the job ad, the level of its listing could be improved.
Andy Weight, Product Director, Totaljobs.com comments: “The location of a job is highly important to most when finding work, so our new search tool will make it easier for jobseekers to find employment in the area in which they want to work.”
The change means that all search interfaces will be updated allowing jobseekers to do the following:
- Specify how far from their location they’re willing to work (fig. 1.)
- See exactly how far away jobs are from their search location (fig. 2.)
- Sort search results by distance (fig.3)
Developments such as this for Totaljobs.com’s jobseeker and recruiter audience had lead to the website being named as number 1 in Google rankings for both organic and paid search for ‘jobs’.
