Estoniaís CV-Online will close its pan-European recruitment and career portal, www.cveurope.com, which opened in September 2000, citing fierce competition on the Western labour market as the reason, according to the online version of the daily Eesti Paevaleht.
CV-Online informed its clients that the business plan of providing people of East and Central European countries with an opportunity to enter the western labour market is no longer realistic, and because of this the firm will shut down its pan-European site.
Juri Kaljundi, one of the founders of CV-Online, said a few of their IT people have relocated to Ireland, Britain and Germany with the help of CV-Europe. ìAn ad works better if itís posted on a local website,î he said.
The firmís six local labour exchange pages, mediating job offers in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Poland, will stay open. Kaljundi said CV-Online will focus on those markets from now on.
CV-Europe was connected to all CV-Onlineís local Internet sites throughout Europe. The firm said in its press release at the time that its aim was to become the leading business in this field in Europe.
