Recent press coverage has hinted that the Government is concerned with the growing lack of standards in the online recruitment sector. It claims that it has received complaints such as one site copying jobs from another site without authority, advertising false vacancies and exaggerations of pay.
As part of its desire to clean up the practice, reforms which are to be discussed later this year are set to include, making it a criminal offence to publish a vacancy without the hirer's authority. The Government says that it is looking to introduce these measures as a way of safeguarding the reputable from the cowboys in a market which it estimates to be worth 930 million.
