A new range of services has been added to the recently launched www.getalife.org.uk which provides up to the minute information on employment issues for students and graduates interested to work in the public sector.
The latest additions include email alerts direct from employers; employer and job profiles; plus a section dedicated to professional development.

Graduate Prospects chief executive Mike Hill comments: ìThe public sector offers first rate opportunities for graduates who are turning more and more to organisations that can provide an excellent work life balance alongside good job prospects and salaries. Getalife.org.uk offers them a helping hand. The job search and email alerts present immediate employment opportunities alongside facilities to research employers and sectors.î

Employers have been quick to exploit the opportunity to reach graduates via getalife. The NHS, government offices, city, borough and district councils, the Prison Service, Housing Associations, charities, fire and rescue services, the Audit Commission, police forces and the European Commission Office, are among those organisations which have registered vacancies online.

ìAfter just three months in existence, the website is attracting over 12,000 unique users a month. We anticipate that interest in the site will rise considerably as word spreads about the opportunities afforded by the sector which is now on a par alongside blue chip private sector companies as a first choice destination for recent graduates,î said Hill.

Almost a third of all graduates now want to work in the public sector* and it is the fifth largest employer of graduates**, with an impressive average starting salary of 19,900, up 4.7 per cent on last year**. The website, developed by Graduate Prospects, the leading UK provider of graduate careers and recruitment solutions, aims to help those graduates wanting to work in public sector organisations.
