Specialist legal consultancy Lawspeed is launching new seminars to update recruitment companies on the key legal and commercial developments affecting their businesses over the last twelve months. The seminars aim to provide recruiters with easily digestible and practical updates on the wide range of legal issues that are central to every recruitment companyís operations.
Commenting on the seminars, which will take place in London and Manchester, Adrian Marlowe, Managing Director of Lawspeed said, ëThese seminars will focus on what is really happening and will be relevant to all consultancies. Recent cases have created uncertainty in the areas of working time and holidays, whilst the imminent judgment in the Court of Appeal case involving Brook Street could have far-reaching implications for the industry. This case, on the employment status of a temporary agency worker, challenges one of the core premises of temporary recruitment, that temporary workers are not entitled to employment rights or unfair dismissal when terminated from an assignment.í
The seminars will also cover what is really happening on the proposed Agency Workersí Directive and the UK Employment Agencies Act Regulations, as well as developments on IR35, and how to cope with the new anti-spamming rules. The Lawspeed legal team will be joined by guest speaker Ken Jones of immigration specialists Jones Kelleher, who will guide delegates through the maze of the work permit system.
After the end of each seminar, Lawspeed directors Ravi Murphy and Adrian Marlowe will give delegates the opportunity of consulting them confidentially in a free advice surgery on any legal issue related to recruitment. Ravi said, ëWe always aim to deliver informed insight to our clients. They recognise that we really understand the practical and commercial issues involved in running a recruitment consultancy. The seminar and surgeries are part of that.í
The London seminar takes place on Monday 24th November 2003 and the Manchester one on Thursday 27th November. Both take place in the afternoon. The seminars cost 195 for the first delegate, with a substantial discount for subsequent delegates and Lawspeed current clients. Bookings can be made through Lawspeedís website (www.lawspeed.com) or by contacting Lawspeed on 01273 236236.
