Recruiting gold rush - 03/2001

-

In the golden age of the recruiting industry headhunters are playing by different rules. According to Hunt-Scanlon Advisors, industry revenues are
expected to hit $9 billion in the next year. Revenues at Internet jobsites alone should double to $1.7 billion. There are approximately 1,000
traditional search firms in the U.S., and so many Internet jobsites that no one can seem to accurately count them. That has sparked the need for
job search engines like FlipDog.com and Grassisgreener.com. Search firms are using the boom to reinvent themselves and expand beyond old boundaries. Korn/Ferry International now recruits for CEO's as well as lower managers. Thousands of other positions are also advertised on technical websites. There is change on the horizon. The fragmented industry is also seeing an increase in mergers and acquisitions.
