With SMS text messaging surging to over 864 million messages a month, The Job Channel (www.jobchannel.tv) the only online jobs database to operate across all interactive digital television platforms has recently launched the first SMS Text Messaging service accessible via digital television.
Users simply search from around 60,000 current positions covering all industry sectors ranging from administration and PA vacancies to retail and
catering jobs. Once the search selection has been completed the user requests that a text message containing the vacancy details be sent directly to his or her mobile phone.
Angus Drever, CEO of MultiMedia Television Plc, the company that operates The Job Channel said:
ìWhy has SMS text messaging become a world-wide phenomena? Because it is easy, fast and very uncomplicated to use. It struck us that something this simple could add real benefit to our iTV users. The fact that we are the first to introduce SMS text messaging for iTV is amazing. It demonstrates our ability to move quickly to provide a better experience for our digital TV audience.î
The service will soon be expanded to include automated text messaging. This new functionality will allow users to specify key words such as industry, job title, salary requirements and location. The search words are then matched to the latest vacancies and a text message is automatically sent to the user.
