REC comments on Deloitte’s latest Consumer Tracker

Commenting on Deloitte’s latest Consumer Tracker, Neil Carbery, REC Chief Executive, said:

“While the end of 2024 left many feeling uncertain about the labour market, there are reasons for cautious optimism as we move into the middle of 2025. The foundations of the UK economy remain resilient, and businesses are beginning to adjust to the realities of a challenging Budget after the shock of the autumn. With an anticipated turn in the economic cycle, we expect to see hiring activity pick up in the middle of this year. Deloitte’s forecasts of UK growth improving over the summer, supported by fiscal easing and lower interest rates, align with this outlook, providing further encouragement for employers and jobseekers."
