HECSU launches Graduate Market Trends with part-time study focus

In light of the dramatic 40% decline in entrants to part-time study1, the latest edition of Graduate Market Trends (GMT) is devoted to the challenges facing part-time higher education and the impact on UK employers

In light of the dramatic 40% decline in entrants to part-time study1, the latest edition of Graduate Market Trends (GMT) is devoted to the challenges facing part-time higher education and the impact on UK employers.

The quarterly report from the Higher Education Careers Services Unit (HECSU) reports on the benefits of part-time study for employers, employees and the economy. It also considers the impact of changes in funding and future implications as well as provides an insight to employer support and how their views have changed as a result of the recession.

Also in GMT are series of articles devoted to the latest research into part-time higher education including reports by Universities UK, Higher Education Academy and the Higher Education Policy Institute.

GMT editor, Jennifer Redman says: “Research demonstrates the wide-ranging industry benefits of part-time study. The news that student numbers are dramatically declining has raised many fears among both academics and the business community, so in GMT we look to provide insight to the latest thinking, backed up by comprehensive research.”
