- Matchtech has secured an exclusive contract for an initial 12 month period
- Unique opportunity for experienced engineers to enter leadership roles in the Royal Navy
Matchtech, the engineering recruitment specialist, announces today that it has won a competitive tender to search for Petty Officer Marine Engineering Technicians as part of a pioneering Royal Navy recruitment initiative. Matchtech’s appointment is effective immediately and is based on an exclusive contract for an initial 12 month period.
The Royal Navy is looking to build its team of qualified engineers to maintain the mechanical and electrical systems on board state-of-the-art vessels such as the Type 45 Destroyer. To do this it will be appointing experienced engineers to positions three ranks higher than the usual entry-level intake, making this a pioneering scheme for the armed forces.
Matchtech will be helping the Royal Navy source candidates from across a range of engineering sectors where skills can be effectively transferred into the maritime defence environment. For example, engineers with a background in automotive, aerospace, utilities, water and oil and gas all have the potential to thrive in the Royal Navy.
Based in Portsmouth or Plymouth, the new recruits will join in a leadership position and will experience the world-class training and global travel that Royal Navy careers are well known for.
Natalie Desty, Head of Maritime, Matchtech, said: “To work with the Royal Navy on this new recruitment initiative is a rare and exciting opportunity. There is vast scope for engineers across variety of engineering industries to excel in the Royal Navy and with our engineering expertise across all industries, we are confident we’ll be able to find the best talent for our new client.”
Commander Mark Parry, Direct Entry Programme Manager, Royal Navy, said: “We look forward to working with Matchtech on building our world-class team of marine engineering technicians. This recruitment initiative creates a unique route into the Royal Navy for engineers interested in transferring to the maritime defence industry and pursuing an unparalleled engineering career with extensive training, international travel and an exceptional team.”
