In fact, analysis of over 84 million applications made over the past three years reveals that recruiters in the following areas could benefit from above-average applications this autumn:
- Candidates in London make an average of 12.9% more applications in October
- Brighton’s job hunters are the second most active at this time, with application rates being 5.4% above average in October
- Bristol is also a flurry of candidate activity in October, as application rates are 3% higher
- Finally, Southampton experiences a 1.6% jump in applications on average in October
Alongside this, candidates in the education sector make 9.9% more applications in October, design professionals 2.3% more and legal candidates 1.8% more.

- Wales – 15.4% more jobs than average
- West Midlands – 11.4% more jobs than average
- North West – 11.3% more jobs than average
- East Midlands – 11.1% more jobs than average
- Scotland – 11% more jobs than average
- East of England – 10.2% more jobs than average
- South West – 10% more jobs than average
- South East – 8.5% more jobs than average
- North East – 7.5% more jobs than average
- Northern Ireland – 5.7% more jobs than average
