Unemployed U.S. Jobseekers Ages 50 and Older Totaled More Than 1.3 Million*

Responding to the trends of rising retirement age among
Americans, national unemployment figures for older workers, and U.S. companies’ needs for experienced workers, Retiree Services LLC launched the RetireeCareers.com online job board (www.RetireeCareers.com) to bring together jobseekers ages 50 and older and businesses seeking seasoned employees. According to the unemployment report released Nov. 7 by the U.S.
Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics, approximately 1.35 million* U.S. citizens ages 50 and older were unemployed and actively seeking jobs this October. The 50 age group of unemployed jobseekers in October 2003 represents about 16.5%* of the total number of unemployed persons in the U.S. last month, up from 16.44%* in October 2002.
RetireeCareers.com offers 50 jobseekers free resume postings, job searches, and other services; and, the site offers free job postings and resume searches for employers seeking mature professionals.
