Niche job board network 247recruit have achieved a new first for their OutdoorStaff.co.uk brand by helping to launch a brand new careers event at the forthcoming Outdoors Show. They have worked with VOS Media and the Outdoor Industries Association to stage Careers In The Outdoors within a dedicated Careers Zone at the Outdoors Show later this month.
The event will bring together speakers from all areas of the outdoors industry to talk about their personal career experiences within the sector. Employers taking part include TUI Travel, Cotswold Outdoor, PGL Travel, Fairbridge, BSES, Berghaus and Go Ape. The event will also be opened with a keynote speech from Peter Thompson, Outdoors Manager of SkillsActive, the Sector Skills Council for the UK's active leisure and learning industries.
247recruit Managing Director, Andrew Bird said This event will be a great opportunity to raise awareness on the diversity of career opportunities available within the outdoor sector. We work with over 200 employers in this sector and the jobs they have on offer can lead to all sorts of career outcomes. There are some great career development stories from people who started in entry level positions and worked their way up. The outdoors sector can also act as a great springboard for developing careers in other sectors of the leisure industry. One of our speakers started his career as a kitchen porter at an Activity Centre and he is now the MD of a division that runs 22 companies within Europe's largest travel company.
The Careers Zone will also offer visitors the chance to find out more about outdoor career opportunities by browsing jobs on OutdoorStaff.co.uk at internet kiosks provided by 247recruit. The site features hundreds of jobs advertised directly by employers as well as a directory of specialist training courses and careers information videos.
The Outdoors Show takes place at Birmingham's NEC from Friday 26th March to Sunday 28th March. Last year's show was attended by over 30,000 visitors and this year there will be over 200 exhibitors plus a range of features including rock and ice climbing walls, woodland rambling trails, gear demos, axe forging and fashion shows.
