Approximately 13,000 visitors participated in the survey carried out simultaneously on Monster's seven European sites - 53% of them showed frustration for rates of pay that do not reflect their skills and dedication to work. The online poll also showed that the number of Europeans who are happy with their salaries is just 14%, and those who believe their pay is fair is 22%.
Only 13% of Irish workers are satisfied with their current salaries, whilst 30% state that their salary is average for their position. Among the other countries involved in Monster.com's survey, Netherlands has the lowest percentage of workers dissatisfied with their remuneration (32.75%), whilst French (62.94%) and Spanish (63.42%) are the most embittered when receiving their payslips. Additionally, with an European average of 11.40% and little local variances, just few are inclined to justify their employers for being badly paid as a result of prevailing circumstances.
Commenting on the poll, Alan Townsend, M.D., Monster.ie: Dissatisfaction with your salary used to be a source of stress and aggravation; now, it's simply a trigger to take the next step in your career by posting your resume on Monster.com and saying to employers I am skilled and in demand. Do you want me?. In the recruitment battlefield employees are the winners, as are the employers who understand the underlying trend and are prepared to face the challenges of a fast moving and increasingly employee-centred skills market.
