Jul 03 2002: Europemedia reports that around 12 percent of Romanians are now online.
This is equivalent to about 2.1 million Internet users, according to new data from the Romanian market research company, CSOP.
The report indicates that the cost of PCs and Internet access in Romania are still too high for most people to have home access to the net.
Around 16 percent of Romaniaís male population uses the Internet, compared to eight percent of females, according to CSOP.
Romanians aged between 15 and 20 years make up around 32 percent of the countryís Internet users.
The second biggest group of users is those aged between 20 and 29 years old.
However, those aged over 60 years old represent just one percent of all Internet users in Romania.
