Research from Ipsos-Reid suggests that people are becoming increasingly reliant on the Internet.
A new study from the online research firm indicates that Internet users are going online more frequently.
The survey found that the US has the highest incidence of Internet usage with 72 percent of the population going online once within the previous month.
This marks a 13 percent increase in the number of Americans going online once a month in 2000 and 1999.
Canada boasts the second highest Internet penetration rate with 62 percent of adults reporting that they had gone online at least once in the last 30 days. This compares to 60 percent in 2000 and 56 percent in 1999.
South Korea also scores well with 53 percent of Koreans reporting they had used the Internet at least once in the preceding month, compared to 45 percent who reported the same in 2000.
The UK saw a 15 percent increase in the number of people going online, while Japan, Germany and France also showed significant percentage-point increases in the past two years.
