New Yearís resolutions often include a vow to move jobs, and despite market uncertainty 2003 is no exception according to totaljobs.com, one of the UKís leading recruitment web sites. The site saw a surge in jobseekers on January 2nd, with a further increase in traffic on January 6th, indicating that many people have used the first day back at work after Christmas to look for a new job.
Totaljobs.com reports close to half a million page impressions with 40,000 unique users on January 2nd, compared to an average of 300,000 page impressions and 20,000 unique users in December 2002. January 6th saw nearly 650,000 page impressions and 50,000 unique users, close to 3 times the number logged on December 6th 2002.
Keith Robinson, chief operations director at totaljobs.com says: ìPeople usually take advantage of the Christmas break to re-evaluate all aspects of their lives, and job satisfaction is top of many lists. Now that more than 60% of UK adults have access to the internet, online recruitment is increasingly popular. The majority of jobseekers take advantage of internet facilities at work - our busiest period is the weekday lunch hour.î
