Almost 730,000 Hungarians are using the Internet and 160,000 go online on a daily basis, according to research by NetSurvey.
The 'iBasic 2000' survey was based on responses from 2,500 Hungarian Internet users. Nine local ISPs also participated.
Nearly 90,000 Hungarians go online once a week. The figure edged toward 120,000 for users who logged on more often on a weekly basis. Men comprised 53 percent of Internet users.
The number of Hungarians who used the Internet at work has increased slowly, according to NetSurvey, and the most popular attractions of the web were email and simple browsing.
Online shopping is also becoming popular with Hungarians-10 percent of regular Internet users have bought goods online. The most common purchases for online shoppers were books, CDs, and software.
