The Job Channel, (www.jobchannel.tv), the jobs resource for Interactive TV, has signed a direct agreement with Sky to launch the first fully interactive recruitment service on Sky Active.
From Summer 2002, for the first time on Sky Active, job seekers will have access to a recruitment channel that will allow them to search, select and apply for jobs through their TV set. Sky Active viewers can search from around 20,000 vacancies supplied by the UK's leading employers and recruitment agencies. Once the selection has been made, users simply choose the Apply Online option, and key in their relevant details using the digital remote control.
Michael Deeny, Chairman of MultiMedia Television Plc, the company that operates The Job Channel, commented: We are delighted to have struck a direct relationship with Sky Active which provides us with a significantly enhanced position on the digital satellite platform. It also allows us to provide a faster and richer service to viewers - now being only two steps away from the Sky Active main menu.
Launched in October 2001, Sky Active was created to house Sky digital's interactive services. With more than 5.7 million subscribers and 14 million viewers across the UK and Ireland, Sky digital is the UK's leading - and Europe's fastest growing - broadband digital television platform. Tobin Ireland, Group Sales Director at Sky Interactive, added: In just over 2 months 7 million digital satellite users have accessed the Sky Active service by pressing the red or interactive button on their Sky remote control. I'm confident that our users will find The Job Channel service a valuable part of Sky Active's offering.
The Job Channel currently works with some of the UK's leading employers, such as BMW, Rentokil Initial, Wolverhampton and Dudley Breweries, as well as a range of the largest recruitment agencies.
Angus Drever, CEO of MultiMedia Television Plc, added: We believe that going on Sky Active will lead to a significant increase in viewers looking at the Job Channel, and a significant increase to our revenues. Furthermore, we believe that jobseekers, employers and recruitment agencies will greatly benefit from the added reach this deal brings.
Through the Sky Active deal The Job Channel now reaches a total audience of 14 million people.
