National Mail Order Association (NMOA)

.

launches new online job center for mail order industry
After some of the mail order''s big employers laid off thousands of employees this past year; Fingerhut, YesMail, Columbia House, Sears'' and hundreds of dotcoms, the National Mail Order Association started getting increasing requests for help from the recently unemployed looking for employment in the industry. At the same time, the NMOA was seeing an increased need on the part of its smaller corporate members for high quality employees with industry experience. The result of these two forces coming together is a new nationwide career center on the NMOA''s web site (www.nmoa.org) targeted for the mail order industry.

Direct Marketing employs 15,588,000 people in the U.S. today and is expected to grow to 18,500,000 by 2005, which will be 13% of all U.S. employment.

The NMOA''s career section offers several features of interest to jobseekers in the industry. They can post their resume at no charge so it can be searched by key word, location, category, or any combination of these. For example, a Catalog Director interested in a household products mail order company could use the keyword household, select the Catalog Director category and choose the geographic locations she or he is interested in. The career section also allows candidates to find out about educational opportunities for advancing their careers.

The NMOA''s career section is run by HireSites.com which also runs niche websites for organizations such as the Wharton Club of New York, and the City University''s Software Design and Development Institute. The company''s CEO, Scott W. Brown, said: We are pleased to work with NMOA on this project. It''s exciting to help their members achieve their goals and at the same time, provide employers with a channel for finding high quality employees in this industry.
