Germans get online, but other Europeans don''t

The number of Germans and Italians online increased slightly during the month of June, but Internet usage in other Western European countries dipped.

According to new statistics from NetValue, over 18 million Germans logged on to the Web during June, up from 17.7 million in May.

Around 8.45 million Italians went online in June, up from 8.03 million in May.

However, in the UK, 15.7 million people went online, down from 16 million the previous month, while the number of Internet users in France dropped from 12.2 million in May to 11.8 million in June.

The number of Internet users online in Spain, Denmark, Sweden, and Norway remained more or less the same.

As in previous months, the Spanish spent longer online than their fellow Europeans.

Internet users in Spain spent connected on average 12.2 days during the month, compared to 11.6 days for Germans and 11.1 days for Danes.
