Have you ever suffered discrimination in the workplace?
For those of us who work in London, it is very likely that we all feel used and abused at some time in our working life. But are some of us more susceptible to discrimination than others? That is the question being asked by Wise Owls through a research project being funded by the London West Learning & Skills Council. (LWLSC)& the European Social Fund.
The research involves talking 1000 individuals over the next few months to get them to participate in the programme to try and identify which groups of people really feel they are being discriminated against, and what can be done to overcome the discrimination. As well as talking to individuals, the research also includes a similar survey of over 600 companies in the West London area.
Chris Walsh from Wise Owls, commented, ìOur research is giving the individual, as well as employers, an opportunity to get their views about discrimination across to decision making bodies within the work arena. Once the survey has been completed, we will be distributing the final report on this survey to LWLSC, and senior management and organisations in West London.î
Chris commented, ìOf course, our brief is not just the research project, we will also be identifying available jobs in West London, and matching suitable candidates to those jobs. Wise Owls has been operating successfully as a not for profit recruitment agency, specialising in job matching for the over 45ís, in East London for over 4 years, and we are now extending that success to West London.î
