Book A Trainer.co.uk and The Institute of IT Training collaborate
The Institute of IT Training and leading training brokers Bookatrainer are collaborating to raise the standards of the freelance IT trainer market.
In the agreement, signed today by IITT chief executive Colin Steed and Simon Neale, managing director of Bookatrainer, all of the freelance IT trainers registered on the firmís books will be encouraged to gain Institute professional grade membership.
Simon Neale explained: ìWe are determined that the skills of all of our registered trainers will be of the highest quality and this collaboration with the Institute will do that. We are aiming at providing our clients with the best trainers and with the quality of their training delivery skills guaranteed. Having them all working to the Instituteís code of practice and having all of them professionally qualified is our goal over the next 12 months.î
Neale explained that with over 2,300 trainers on his books those that do not join the Institute will be at a disadvantage as the Bookatrainer search engine has been adapted to show IITT members and professional training qualifications at the top of the list when a user searches Bookatrainerís database.
Colin Steed, chief executive of the Institute, is delighted with the stand taken by Bookatrainer. ìIt is commendable that Bookatrainer have taken up this cause and are actively promoting the quality of their registered trainers. It is also heartening to see that a training services provider actively helping raising the standards in the trainer community.î
Steed explained that although the standards of training delivery have continually risen since the Instituteís formation in 1995, there is still a long way to go before it is a fully-qualified profession.
ìI am delighted to see that the Governmentís National Skills Strategy, launched by Education Minister Charles Clarke in July, has taken on board what we have been campaigning for nearly 10 years ñ all trainers to be qualified and all training providers accredited,î said Steed. ìWe are determined to see this campaign through and our work will not be accomplished until we have achieved it.î
