Recruitment at Bayer HealthCare, part of Bayer AG, the international chemicals and healthcare group, has been given a boost with highly encouraging results from its dedicated employment web site established earlier this year.
In the first four months of the site being operational, www.jobs.bayer.co.uk attracted over 36,000 visitors. There were 76 applicants to advertised vacancies and nine interviews from internet applications. Two job offers were made and accepted, including one recruit from Sweden, who is now a medical information scientist.
Bayer HealthCare HR partner, Gayl Long comments: ìIt is very rewarding to have delivered an initiative in HR which is seen to add real value to the business. The site has delivered both cost efficiencies and high calibre candidates. We are also delighted with the volume of responses to date, which proves Bayer has a positive image in the market and is seen as a company where people want to develop a career in healthcare.
ìWe now have a 24 hour ëshop frontí promoting Bayer as an employer and can draw from a much wider pool of prospective candidates. It is an ideal way for people to get to know more about our business and the career opportunities. And itís equally good for us as the calibre of prospects is significantly higher than those responding to press advertising.î
In addition, the site has produced overall cost savings of 8,500 on agency fees, which offsets the 5,000 per year spent on hosting and promotion.
Nearly 170 people have also subscribed to the job alert service, in which people are invited to send in their CVs speculatively.
Gayl Long added: ìWe can now tap into a growing database of speculative CVs. The computer will search for suitable candidates, making it much easier to match the right candidates with the right jobs when vacancies arise.î
