CareerJournal.com wins first annual Webby business award

.

The International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences has selected CareerJournal.com, The Wall Street Journalís executive career site a winner in its first annual Webby Business Awards in the professional services category. The Webby Business Awards honor companies that excel at using the Web to achieve critical business goals.

The awards are produced by The Academy, which also presents the annual Webby Awards, now in their eighth year. The Academy launched the Webby Business Awards last fall as a separate awards program aimed at recognizing the best business practices online.

According to the judges, Using traditional publishing resources to create a new entity with a new revenue stream and community of users, CareerJournal.com--The Wall Street Journalís executive career site--offers a valuable mix of articles, columns and Web tools (on such topics as freelancing, advancing your career, lateral moves, making the most of a layoff, plus useful salary and compensation-gauging tools) in a compelling, must-bookmark format.

The Webby Business Awards are judged by members of The Academy, whom this year included designer Clement Mok; Red Burns, chairman of the New York University Interactive Telecommunications Program; Guy Kawasaki, founder of Garage.com; Howard Rheingold, author of Smart Mobs; and Anita Roddick, founder of The Body Shop.
Judging for The Webby Business Awards is based on strategic criteria, which focus on the business objectives behind a web site, creative criteria, and the execution of the business initiative online.

The Webby Business Award winners are setting the standards for how business is being conducted both online and off, said Maya Draisin, executive director of The Academy. They are providing new models for how the Web can be used for everything from cutting costs to boosting customer loyalty. Any company that wants to build their business will want to study this list of winners closely.

It is an honor to be selected for a Webby business award, says Tony Lee, editor in chief and general manager of CareerJournal.com. Weíre very pleased that CareerJournal.com was selected for its success in providing the highest level of career guidance to executives, managers and professionals.
