The IT recruitment industry is thriving according to the latest statistics from online recruitment specialists, CWJobs.co.uk. The CWJobs/SSL quarterly IT skills index shows that both permanent and contractor vacancies have again seen a momentous increase between July and September 2004. Permanent and Contractor vacancies shot up across the country in Q3 2004 with vacancies increasing by 34% and 52% respectively.
Key findings include:
All regions have witnessed growth in both permanent and contractor vacancies between July and September 2004
Contractor vacancies in the East Midlands have seen the most impressive growth with an increase of 103% in Q3 2004
The West and Wales has seen a 63% hike in contractor vacancies and 30% rise in permanent vacancies
Outer London is a great place for IT job seekers to be: permanent vacancies are up by 55% and contractor vacancies have risen by 70%
The North East witnessed a massive 102% increase in permanent vacancies and a 148% increase in contractor vacancies since Q3 2003
Permanent vacancies in the North East and Southern England have both seen an increase of 28% while contractor vacancies are up by 47% and 38% in the North East and Southern England respectively
SQL, JAVA and Office were the most popular skills for permanent IT staff in Q3 2004
Office, SQL and Oracle topped the bill for IT contractors
