Industry and academic leaders to gather for unique HR forum

European Commission Directorate DG to give keynote address at íPeople Strategy Forumí

More than 20 senior figures from the business and academic worlds will be leading a unique conference in London in December which aims to set the future agenda for maximising the role of human resources in companiesícommercial success.

The People Strategy Forum will encompass a series of round table discussions and presentations designed to explore in detail how HR can link effectively with business strategy to positively impact on business performance.

Hosted by Croner, one of the UKís leading providers of business information, advice and support, the conferenceís keynote address, on íActivating The Social Policy Agenda,í will be given by Odile Quintin, director general of the European Commissionís Employment Directorate.

Other key participants will include Frances OíGrady, deputy general secretary of the TUC; Professor Amin Rajan, chief executive of Centre for Research in Employment & Technology in Europe (CREATE); Tim Wood, head of UK staff at Astra Zeneca; and Ed Sweeney, general secretary of UNIFI.

The event provides a rare opportunity for senior professionals involved with HR strategy, organisational change and development, talent management, human capital, e-HR, employment law, employee relations and employee branding, to discuss with peers and senior players how to improve and maximise their input to their business.
Themes to be covered include building a talent management strategy, measuring human capital, managing employee relations, and the future of the HR profession. Delegates will have the opportunity to participate and ask questions in each debate.

David Podger, Commercial Director at Croner Training says: The role of HR professionals is becoming increasingly demanding as people continue to emerge as the sole source of competitive advantage in many organisations/ industries. In challenging times, HR must be proactive in achieving business objectives and be able to demonstrate their contribution to the overall success of the organisation.

As a result, HR is a growing, dynamic profession, which also must adapt and evolve. The People Strategy Forum replaces the traditional presentation format with interactive discussions, providing practitioners with a format where they can challenge ideas and thrash out new ways of working.

Senior HR professionals seldom have the opportunity to participate in strategic debate with such prominent experts at an event specifically tailored to delve deeply into HR practice. The People Strategy Forum provides an exceptional networking opportunity to share experiences and opinions with people who are shaping the HR industry.

Joanna Boreham, Communications Manager at Croner agrees: The People Strategy Forum has been created with the needs of the most senior HR people, from all HR disciplines, in mind. We have attracted a splendid panel and I expect the discussions will be both thought-provoking and agenda-setting.

We are privileged to have the participation of the director general for the European Commission. It is testament to the calibre of the event, and sets
the tone for the level and scope of expertise of our panellists. We are delighted to offer this opportunity to delegates who will benefit from such a varied pool of experience and knowledge.

The People Strategy Forum will take place on Thursday 4th December 2003 at The Selfridge Hotel, London. Call, 020 8247
